![]() ![]() JFK-AMS on Delta: $229 round trip (premium select going over, Delta 1 coming back) JFK-WAW on Lot Polish Airlines: $225 round trip (business class over, main cabin back) Here’s what I paid for some destinations on a ZED fare on airlines not my own: ![]() With that being said, I was previously at a low cost carrier that did not have many international routes. If I was to choose an airline that was part of anther alliance, the cost will be higher. Since Delta doesn’t fly that route, I want to choose an airline that is part of Skyteam which in this case, Korean Air is my cheapest pick. Your alliance/partner airlines will usually be in the low tier while other airlines not in your alliance can choose to be in the medium/high tiers.įor example, let’s say I’m at Delta and I want to fly from Inchon, South Korea to Bangkok, Thailand. ![]() There is an established price within each zone, and within each zone there is a tiered system (low, medium, high) each airline can choose to be a part of. In a nutshell, ZED means Zonal Employee Discount and the base prices are based on zones or mileage. I would appreciate it SO much if some of you very lovely and helpful current or past flight attendants could share specific examples of your own ZED experiences, just so I can get a rough idea of how much it can cost?įor example: "I worked for a legacy/ULCC and I was able to ZED on a different legacy/foreign airline to X destination and it cost $? for economy/business."Īny experiences ZED-ing as a Southwest employee would be particularly helpful for my research. So I'm really not looking for a comprehensive, in depth explanation. I've read a lot about how each airline has different agreements with various other airlines as far as what class you can list for and whether you'd pay a low, medium, or high fare. I know it's too complex to explain in a reddit post, lol. It seems like the ZED agreements for all of the airlines are like, a strictly guarded secret. Obviously with the three legacies, there's the opportunity to fly on your own metal (look at me using the lingo, this subreddit has taught me so much! :)) But in the event that I can't get hired with one of the big three, I'm curious about how it would work. A lot of the information I'm looking for can be found in the contracts for the various airlines, but one major consideration for me that I can't find much info about online is the cost to travel internationally with ZED fares. I'm researching airlines to try to decide which ones I want to apply for. Hi!! Long time lurker, first time poster here!
